Recently in the heart of historic Mexico to jury the Guanajuato International Film Festival with Larry Clark and Paul Schrader and to speak at the TED conference in San Miguel de Allende (with Michael Nyman, Deepak Chopra, and other creative talents), Spencer Tunick stepped out for a day to photograph nudes on the streets of these two significant colonial cities. Mexican filmmaker Arturo Manrique made a short film of Tunick moving quickly through the scenic streets of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato to shoot his naked subjects, while his helpers dealt with police interruptions and gawking locals. Manrique’s dynamic editing and snappy soundtrack construct an amazing portrait of the artist that poetically reveals the magic and energy of his street-savvy, body-conscious process.
