The Outsider Art Fair kicked off its 20th anniversary exhibition at 7 West 34th Street in New York last night. Collectors, curators, critics and artists filled the aisles and booths of some 40 galleries, art centers, and publications from around the world that are participating in this year’s fair. A+ was there to view the colorful works by self-taught artists that animated the booths—everyone from Bill Traylor, Henry Darger, Martin Ramirez, Joseph Yoakum, and Purvis Young to Swoon, Prophet Royal Robertson, Fort Guerin, William Scott, and Penny Rockwell—and to toast the fair’s triumphant moment. See more pictures from opening night below.
