Though this year’s iteration of Art Basel Miami Beach may lack the intense energy and glitzy verve for which it’s become known, this slightly subdued pace (emphasis on slightly) has created an opening for serious viewing and discerning collecting. Unsurprisingly, dealers are reporting strong and steady sales so far, with emerging galleries also doing well. But as you may well know by now, Miami’s art week isn’t defined solely by its fairs, with crowds (and celebrity sightings) at the evening’s parties reported to be booming.
